Attention graduates, have you visited the scholartree.ca website?  Scholartree.ca is a free online platform that helps students pay for their education through scholarships.  Scholartree.ca can save you time searching for scholarships.  Based on information you provide, Scholartree.ca shows you all the scholarships that you’re eligible for and guides you through the application process.  In the next few weeks, applications are due for the following scholarships:  Brandon Walli Phones Down Eyes Up Memorial Scholarship, Kin Canada Bursaries, and Weston Youth Innovation Award.  Visit scholartree.ca to find your scholarship matches.

Thursday night was the Brant County wrestling championships.  St. John’s had favorable results.  Alex V. was first in the male 54 kg category.  Clarra N. was first in the female 67.5 kg category.  Catherine R. was second in the female 57.5 category.  All our wrestlers will take a break for exams and be back in action in February for the District meet.  Great job wrestlers.

Are you in grade 10, 11 or 12?  Are you interested in travelling abroad and earning a credit this summer?  Tour the central European cities of Berlin, Prague, Krakow, and Budapest from June 26 to July 5 and earn a Grade 11 World History credit.  If you sign up by January 30th you can enter a code to take advantage of a $465.00 travel grant.  Details are available in Student Services.  See the hanging folders on the wall in the waiting area.

Attention grade 12 students, The Kinsmen Club of Brantford provides $1,000.00 bursaries to qualified students.  Bursary applications are available in Student Services and are due by mail directly to The Kinsmen Club of Brantford no later than February 2, 1010.

Attention grade 12 students.  The Terry Fox Humanitarian Award has a maximum value of $28,000.00 disbursed over 4 years.  A Terry Fox Humanitarian Award poster is hanging on the Scholarships Awards and Bursaries bulletin board outside of Student Services.  The deadline to apply is February 1, 2020.  To view the award criteria, visit terryfoxawards.ca.

On Thursday the SJC wrestling team hit the mats at Denis Morris in St. Catherine’s and saw excellent success.  Clarra N. won her first match as a high school wrestler.  Catherine R. battled valiantly and earned a Bronze medal.  Alex V. won a Gold medal by defeating all three of his opponents by pinning them in convincing fashion.  Congratulations wrestlers.

Attention grade 12 students interested in applying for a Schulich Leader Scholarship.  Schulich is looking for entrepreneurial-minded innovators.  A Schulich Leader is a student who has been selected by one of Schulich’s 20 partner universities to receive $100,000.00 or $80,000.00 to pursue an undergraduate degree in an eligible STEM program.  St. John’s College can nominate one student to apply for a Schulich Leader Scholarship.  Details can be obtained in Student Services.  Applications to be a nominee are due in Student Services by Friday, January 17, 2020.
