Attention Grade 12 female potential graduates. The Canadian Federation of University Women Brantford has a $1,000.00 scholarship for females who have achieved an average of 85% or higher based on 6 credits for entrance to post-secondary education programs. To qualify, you must have demonstrated involvement in and commitment to extracurricular activities or community volunteering and or employment. The final selection will be based on non-academic criteria as indicated on the application form. Please stop by Student Services to pick up a green application form. Applications are due in April.

Attention students looking for community hours opportunities. The Paris Soccer Club is looking for volunteer coaches and assistant coaches. Students can email the Paris Soccer Club at admin@parissoccer.ca. The St. George Soccer Club is also looking for volunteer coaches. The St. George Soccer Club offers a free clinic for all coaches. Students can email the St. George Soccer Club at admin@stgeorgesoccerclub.ca. Also, the Adelaide Hunter Hoodless Homestead National Historic Site is looking for volunteers for their Annual Easter at Addie’s event. The event takes place on Friday, April 15th from 10 am to 2 pm. Students can earn 4-6 community hours at the event. If interested, email the Homestead at info@adelaidehoodless.ca. A program that serves breakfast to the homeless at Alexandra Presbyterian Church on Colborne Street in Brantford is looking for kitchen help and serving help on Thursdays between 8:45 and 9:45 am. This opportunity is open to students with a first period spare and their own transportation. Information is posted on the bulletin board outside of Student Services for all these opportunities.

Attention all Grade 12s, Prom is a GO! Yes, you heard it right. Prom is a GO! However, the tentative date on the calendar may not be correct. We are looking to finalize a date by the end of the week. Would you like to help plan the prom? Please come to a meeting today at the beginning of Senior Lunch in the Divine Mercy room.

Attention Eagles, Student Council has an important announcement. Are you interested in developing your leadership skills, planning activities for the student body, helping to represent our peers, and promoting school spirit? If so, you are encouraged to apply to join next year’s Student Council. Applications for the 2022-2023 academic school year will be available starting Friday, April 1st on the SJC Website. Applications will be due Friday, April 8th to Mr. Beaudin in room 116 or Mr. Yakymyshyn in room 272. In other exciting news, Student Council will be adding two new positions next year. The positions are Junior and Senior Athletic Representatives. The intent of the position is to provide advocacies for all sports on student council. The representatives are to initiate and help plan events throughout the school year that aim to increase school spirit around all sports. To be eligible, all interested candidates must play at least one full time sport for SJC, maintained a minimum of an overall “A” average on your transcript, show enthusiasm and school spirit, and be able to provide a reference from a staff representative or SJC coach. All interested candidates are encouraged to apply.
