This scholarship is awarded to two graduating students from a Brantford or Brant County high school, heading into post-secondary education. The application deadline is April 29th, 2022, at 4 pm. Attention Graduates, here is another scholarship opportunity for students pursuing a degree related to science or technological careers. If you are accepting an offer of admission from a science or technological program and if you have an average of at least 90% in your best 6 university entrance courses subjects which includes 2 science credits, then consider picking up a yellow application from Student Services for the James Hillier Foundation Scholarship. Applications are due back to Student Services by Friday, April 29th, 2022.

Do you have old batteries around your home and do not know what to do with them? Well bring them to the SJC battery collection drive. Your batteries can be dropped of at Room 161 or at Mrs. Spiers desk.

We are happy to share that Conestoga College is now accepting applications for our three new tuition-free Pre-Apprenticeship Training programs that will prepare student for in-demand careers and provide a head start for those withing to start a career in trades: General Carpenter, Welder/Metal Fabricator and Introduction to Construction Trades (Carpentry, Electrical, Plumbing and Welding). Please see Student Services for details.

There will be a track and field practice on Tuesday after school at 3:15 pm. Please bring your signed permission forms.

St. John’s, did you know that April is Diversity Month? At SJC we want to celebrate the diverse cultural heritages that exist in our Catholic school community, especially during Diversity Month. We would like to have Thursday, April 28th be a Diverse Cultural Heritage Day at SJC. The ACE Committee, SJC’s social justice club, will be meeting tomorrow-Thursday on Junior lunch in the Divine Mercy room to discuss and plan our Cultural Heritage Diversity Day. All are welcome to come and participate.

Again, prom is now Friday, June 3rd, so save the date. Tickets will go on sale during the first week of May. Prom attendance is open to anyone on roll at St. John’s in Grade 12 or older this current school year, along with one guest, subject to the approval of administration. 

There will be an eco-club meeting today on both lunches. Juniors will be in room 165, not 166 and Seniors will be in room 161.

If so, you are encouraged to apply to join next year’s Student Council. Applications for the 2022-2023 academic school year are available on the SJC Website. Applications are due by Friday, April 8th to Mr. Beaudin in room 116 or Mr. Yakymyshyn in room 272. In other exciting news, Student Council will be adding two new positions next year. The positions are Junior and Senior Athletic Representatives. The intent of the position is to provide advocacies for all sports on student council. The representatives are to initiate and help plan events throughout the school year that aim to increase school spirit around all sports. To be eligible, all interested candidates must play at least one full time sport for SJC, maintained a minimum of an overall “A” average on your transcript, show enthusiasm and school spirit, and be able to provide a reference from a staff representative or an SJC coach. All interested candidates are encouraged to apply.
