If you are planning to attend University next year, here are some dates to remember.  Virtual Ontario Universities’ Fair (September 25 and October 26) and Fall Open House at the University of Windsor (October 23rd).

University of Windsor virtual or in person open house is on Saturday, October 23rd.  Register at future.uwindsor.ca.

Attention Golf Team, there will be a very important meeting today in Room 237 at 11:30.  I repeat, golf team meeting today in Room 237 at 11:30.

Attention Queen’s University Bound Students.  There are many Major Admission Award scholarships for Queen’s.  Students who demonstrate superior academic ability, creative and original thinking, involvement in school or community activities, and proven leadership can apply for a Queen’s major admission award.  Financial need is also a consideration for some of the major admission awards.  You must apply to the Ontario University Application Centre by November 20th to be considered for these awards.  For more information, please visit www.ontariouniversitiesinfo.ca/scholarships/.

The Improv Club will be meeting tomorrow-Thursday night from 3:15-4:30 p.m. in Room 103, the drama room.  If you did not attend last week, you are still welcome to attend.  We will also be discussing spirit wear.

Junior book club members today is our first meeting.  Grab your lunch and meet us in the library at the start of the lunch bell.  Excited to see you all.

Attention ladies nominated to attend the Dream Day event tomorrow-Thursday at 12:30 p.m. in the library.  Please make sure that you let Mrs. Boluk-Svec in the Coop office know if you plan to attend by lunch today in room 241.  If you have received an invitation but are unable to attend, please let her know.  Permission forms should also be returned to room 241.

There will be no cross-country practice after school today-Monday, October 4th, but there will be a meeting immediately after school on Tuesday in the gym and practice will also resume at 3:15p.m. on Tuesday.

The wait is finally over SJC…. Junior book club is ready to start.  There will be a signup sheet in front of the library, please bring your own pen.  We will have our first meeting this Wednesday.

Last Thursday night, the Junior Girls team hosted MacKinnon Park for another exciting game of basketball.  It was a great team effort as the Eagles defeated MacKinnon Park by a score of 51-30.  Top scorers were Tessa S. and Talia R.  The Eagles face off against the Mustangs tomorrow night.  Good luck girls.

Are you passionate about mental health?  Do you want to be part of a national movement helping your peers and others emphasize the importance of mental health?  Then the SJC Jack.Org Chapter is right for you.  We are looking for enthusiastic teen leaders who will go the extra mile for others and want to promote overall well-being.  If you are interested in being part of the movement – we will be having our first Junior Initation Meeting today-Friday during Junior Lunch in Room 108.  Senior students who are interested in the chapter – please sing up on the door on Room 108 or let Jackie the social worker know.  Regular meetings will be taking place after school virtually for the time being.  If anyone has any questions, please feel free to email or see Miss Dabrowski in Room 108 or Jackie the Social Worker in the Wellness Centre that is located in Student Services.  Thank you very much and have a mentally healthy day, Eagles!

Are you missing being on the stage?  Longing for your moment in the spotlight?  Want to dazzle your friends with your comedic timing and/or fill a void until drama class?  If you’ve answered YES to any of the previous questions, please come to our inaugural meeting for the Improv Club on Thursday night, September 30th.  We will be meeting in room 103 from 3:15 – 4:30 pm.  No prior acting experience is required, and you do not have to be currently enrolled in the drama program to participate.  If you would like additional information, please speak to Ms. Tchegus in room 102.  I’m looking forward to “breaking a leg” with all of you.

After careful deliberations, we have decided that Western University will continue to offer virtual events in place of traditional in-person school visits for Fall 2021. For students interested in Western, please have them check our Fall presentation schedule at uwo.ca., What is Western Like, Presentation and Events. If students are unable to attend at the scheduled time, these sessions will be recorded and posted to our website. Western Campus Tours and on-campus events remain paused the remainder of the year. We hope to re-launch in the new year pending guidance from the Middlesex-London Health Unit, in addition to following university and government guidelines.

There will be a senior boys volleyball meeting at senior lunch today in Room 132.

Attention Music students!  Band is back!  The concert band will begin rehearsing on Wednesday, September 29th in the cafeteria from 3:15 to 4:45.  Rehearsals will be every Wednesday after school in the cafeteria.  All students who can already play an instrument are welcome to join.  If you can already play a band instrument and are interested in joining, please sign up on the list posted on the board outside of room 142, the music room.  Remember that if you need to use a school instrument, you will need to get an instrument agreement form signed prior to the first rehearsal.  See the sign-up sheet for information or find Mrs. Marriott in room 142 if you have questions.
