Attention grade 12 students and teachers, the College Application Workshop takes place tomorrow, Wednesday November 20th during period 1.  The School calendar incorrectly states that the University Workshop is tomorrow.  We apologize for the confusion.  Again, the College Application Workshop for Grade 12 students is tomorrow, Wednesday, November 20th during period 1 in the library.

If you are the recipient of an academic award but were unable to attend the ceremony, please come to the Principals Office today to pick up your award.

Bonjour.  Le Club Francais will be meeting in room 210 on Friday, November 22nd.  Students studying French both this semester and next semester are invited and encouraged to attend.  The meetings will take place during both lunches in room 210.  Please sign up on the door of room 210.  It is important to sign up so that arrangements can be made based on the number of people attending.  The guest speaker is our very own Rise student Jennifer Damoah who was born in Montreal.  Come and eat our lunch in room 210 next Friday.  You may speak to any of the French teachers if you require more information.

Attention grade 12 students looking to take a year off before attending post-secondary school.  Mobilize Jobs has a $1,000.00 Gap Year Scholarship.  Applications are due May 31, 2020.  Students must show proof of post-secondary school Deferred Admission status into a program for the next school year.  More information about this scholarship is available on Scholartree.ca.

Attention students wishing to accumulate community service hours.  Each Thursday the Knights of Columbus host a fish and chips night at the Knights of Columbus Hall which raises monies for their charitable works.  They are seeking your help on Thursdays from 4:30 to 6:30 during their fish and chip nights.  Students would assist in the kitchen and help with serving food to the customers.  Interested students can contact Sean Adams of the Knights of Columbus at sadams@bhncdsb.ca.

The Mental Health Group will be meeting today at lunch.

Attention creative writers, come to the library on Monday, November 18th with your stories.  November 22’s SJC submission date for the Laurier-Stedman writing contest is fast approaching.  Get feedback and share ideas during both lunches on Monday so that your short story can be at its best.  English teachers are standing by near on Monday to help with the submission process including where to submit and to whom.  See you Monday.

Attention grade 12 students, Burger King has scholarships available up to $50,000.00.  Canadian senior students with a GPA of 2.5 or higher can apply from now until December 15, 2019.  Students are encouraged to visit bk-scholars.com for details.  Check the bulletin board outside of Student Services for the Burger King poster.

Girls volleyball tryout begin next week.  Senior girls’ tryouts are Monday, November 11th, Tuesday, November 12th and Wednesday, November 13th, all from 3:15 to 5 pm.  Junior girls’ tryouts are Monday, November 11th, Tuesday, November 12th and Wednesday, November 13th, all starting at 5 pm.

To all writers interested in submitting stories for the Laurier Stedman writing contest, a reminder that the submission deadline for St. John’s will be November 22nd.  Writers are invited to meet in the library during both lunches today to receive feedback and coaching.  English teachers are standing by.
