“Jack Chapter is a group forming at St. John’s College that is going to strive to identify, educate and dismantle barriers about mental health and wellness in our school community. Anyone interested in joining the group is asked to sign up outside of Ms. Shannelly’s room 147 this week. We will have a meeting during Junior lunch today-Monday, November 22nd in room 147 to discuss our first initiatives. If you have any questions, please see Ms. Shannelly, Ms. Heyens or Jackie our school social worker.

Attention curlers! We have only one tryout this week. It is on Thursday from 4:00 – 5:30. See Mr. Todd for details.

Students looking for community hours opportunities should view the bulletin board outside of Student Services. There is a new posting on the bulletin board for seniors in the Henderson Survey and Brier Park looking for students to rake leaves, cut grass, and shovel snow.

The Job Skills Students are selling real gemstone bracelets during Junior Lunch today. Yes, real gemstones. These bracelets are valued between $25 and $45 in the stores. However, we are selling them for $5 a bracelet and donating all proceeds to the SJC Angel Campaign. Come to the Job Skills Room 141 during Junior Lunch today to buy your gemstone bracelet.

Eagles win CWOSSA in Volleyball, 3-0 over Owen Sound. Next stop is OFSAA next week in Kingston.

The Business Club will be meeting tomorrow-Wednesday, November 17th after school in Room 135. The club is open to all grades, and new members are always welcome.

A reminder that the Senior Girls Volleyball tryouts will be held this Wednesday and Thursday at 5:00 pm.

University of Guelph Ridgetown Campus is holding Virtual Open houses on November 9th, 10th, 24th, and 25th. Students that would like to work with animals and horticulture should look into Ridgetown. Students can pre-register for the virtual open house event(s).

The Business Club will be meeting on Wednesday, November 17th after school in Room 135. The club is open to all grades, and new members are always welcome.

Last Thursday night, the Junior Girls Basketball team competed in semi-final action against BCI. It was a tough, physical game, but your Junior Eagles came out on top beating BCI 42-34. Hot shooters of the night were Emily Bielik & Leanne Moore. The Eagles will now face the Assumption Lions on Monday night to decide who will be crowned champions in a one-game final match up. Best of luck girls, go get’em!

Attention grads of June 2022, your grad application and grad fee are posted to School Cash Online. The fee must be paid, and the application form completed and submitted by November 12th. Once this is completed, you will receive an email with the online booking information from Edge Imaging. Grads are responsible for booking their own grad photo. If you have any questions, please see Mrs. Ronson in Student Services.

The Brantford Lights at Glenhyrst will be on display from December 3rd to January 1st, and they need student volunteers. Students may be able to obtain all 40 hours of community service at one great event. To apply, students must visit www.glenhyrst.ca/volunteers and submit the volunteer form. Volunteers will be contacted in the order the applications are received. A poster with these details is on the Board outside of Student Services.

Junior Football Team equipment return will be today-Tuesday, November 9th during junior lunch. You must head to the back storage room and grab all your equipment and meet Mr. O’Sullivan and the co-op helpers in Portable #9. If you do not return your equipment, your name will be forwarded to the Main Office.

Congratulations to Olivia B. on placing 13th at OFSAA for cross country. SJC is extremely proud of your accomplishments Olivia. There will be a sign-up sheet with permission forms for both junior and senior girls’ volleyball tryouts outside the main gym doors. Stay tuned for an announcement regarding tryout dates next week.

Please note that English Help in the Library will not be meeting this week and will instead return to the Library November 25th from 3 to 4 p.m. We look forward to seeing you then for help with all your English speaking, reading, and writing needs. Good luck with exams.
