Attention all students going on the Europe Art trip in March.  We will be having a meeting today at lunch.  The junior lunch meeting will be in Mrs. Davies room and the senior lunch meeting will be in Mrs. DiStefano’s room.  That’s today-Wednesday, October 25th.

Attention Eco-team.  Our first official Eco-team meeting will take place tomorrow-Thursday, October 26th during Junior and senior lunch.  The meeting during junior lunch will take place in room 110 and the meeting during senior lunch will take place in room 172.  Any student that would like to join the Eco-team is welcome to attend the meeting.  Please see Mr. Beaudin, Mr. Yakymyshyn or Mr. Petrella if you cannot attend.

All students who got their pictures done on retake day your student cards are in.  Please come to the Main office to pick it up.

Attention all Guys and Dolls theater goers, this is a reminder that all permission forms for the trip are due today, to either Mr. Heida or Mr. Locey.  As well, all students going on Friday’s trip are asked to attend a brief meeting this morning in Room 103.  We will be discussing the trip’s dress code requirements as well as theater etiquette.

Attention beginner musicians, the sign up list for intermediate band is on room 142.  The band meets every Thursday from 3:15 – 4:30.  Practices will start this Thursday, so please sign up right away so Mrs. Marriott can get music and instruments ready.

Attention singers, the sign up list for the school choir or vocal ensemble is posted on room 130.  Practices are on Tuesdays after school from 3:15 – 4:15.  The first practice is on November 7th.  Please see Mrs. Marriott if you have any questions.

Attention all Potential Grads.  If you are interested in representing your graduating class as Valedictorian your applications are due by December 1, 2017.  Applications are submitted to Mrs. Camilleri in the Student Services office.  Please take time to consider this opportunity.

Good morning SJC swimmers.  If you have not already done so, please pick up a consent form, have it signed and return it to either Mr. Perras or Mrs. Bowen before you begin practices on Monday, October 30th.  The forms, along with a calendar of events, can be found on the door of room 243.  If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Bowen or Mr. Perras.

Are you interested in volunteering at the SJC Fundraiser this Saturday?  Student volunteers are needed for the night of the Elimination Draw this Saturday, October 21st.  There will be a short meeting today at the beginning of junior lunch in room 209. Seniors, please ask your period 3 teachers if you can come.  See Ms. Carrieri or Ms. Cupoli if you cannot attend this important meeting.

High school students who want to expand their knowledge of another language and culture are invited to apply to Rotary International’s Youth Exchange Program, sponsored by our two local Rotary Clubs:  Rotary Club of Brantford and Rotary Club of Brantford – Sunrise.  This program is an opportunity for all students that will be between 15 and 18 years old in August 2018 that are currently attending high school in Brantford or Paris.  Students may choose a long-term exchange (one year), departing in the summer of 2018 or a short-term exchange (six to eight weeks) also in the summer of 2018.  There will be a Rotary Youth Exchange information meeting here at the school today in the Divine Mercy Room at 12:00 pm. 

Attention all students interested in coming to the first meeting of Le Club Francais.  The meeting will take place in Room 210 tomorrow-Friday, October 20th during both lunches.  Our guest speaker is Alexandra Rodriguez who will be talking to us about her immersion learning experience this past summer in Quebec.  Please sign up outside Room 210 so that arrangements can be made based on the number of people attending.  Venez au Club Francais.

Student volunteers are needed for an event at the Burford Agriculture Hall this weekend.  You could earn up to 25 hours.  You will be required Friday, October 20th from after school to 9 p.m. and Saturday, October 21st from from 9 a.m. to midnight.  You will be required to assist with decorations, food preparation, clean up, washing dishes and organizing on both Friday and Saturday.  This will be a fun event and meals are provided.  Volunteers are responsible for transportation.  If you are interested see Mrs. Bissonnette in Student Services.

Congratulations to the St. John’s College tennis team who ended their season this week.  Ethan M,placed 1st in the Boys Singles division and the Junior team placed 4th overall.  The senior team placed 3rd overall and was led by Sam H. and Romeo B., who place 3rd in Boys Doubles.  Thanks to everyone who participated for a great season.

High school students who want to expand their knowledge of another language and culture are invited to apply to Rotary International’s Youth Exchange Program, sponsored by our two local Rotary Clubs:  Rotary Club of Brantford and Rotary Club of Brantford – Sunrise.  This program is an opportunity for all students that will be between 15 and 18 years old in August 2018 that are currently attending high school in Brantford or Paris.  Students may choose a long-term exchange (one year), departing in the summer of 2018 or a short-term exchange (six to eight weeks) also in the summer of 2018.  An information night for parents and students will be held on Wednesday, October 11, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. at the Brantford Police Station at 344 Elgin Street in Brantford.  There will be a Rotary Youth Exchange information meeting here at the school on Thursday, October 19th in the Divine Mercy Room at 12:00 pm. 

Attention SJC students, have you ever wondered how your brain works?  What causes us to feel anxious, angry or scared?  Want to know how to try to “rewire for happiness?”  Please join Mrs. Connolly for our first lunch and learn on October 17th as she helps explain the neuroscience behind our brain and how it connects to our learning and emotions.  This will take place during both lunches in the Divine Mercy Room.  Bring your lunch and let’s explore our brains.  Please sign up with Mrs. O’Sullivan in the library.

To all student who require Community Service Hours, you can complete your hours at SJC.  The Brantford Boys CYO program is looking for reliable students who can assist on Saturdays between the hours of 8:00 am and 3:15 pm at SJC.  You do not need any basketball experience to participate in this program.  All students will be provided tasks that fit their respective skill sets and comfort level.  Additional opportunities may be available at BCI on Saturdays and Sacred Heart in Paris on Mondays.  For anyone interested in this program kindly contact Student Services.
