Catholic Board creates Elementary and Secondary Virtual Schools for the 2021-22 School Year

Friday, May 21, 2021 (Brantford) - The Brant Haldimand Norfolk Catholic District School Board has been working to prepare for the 2021-22 school year including the creation of an Elementary and Secondary Virtual School for families who wish to choose remote learning for their children.

“Our school board believes that in-person learning is the best option for our learners. Our schools are safe and students benefit from the social interaction with their peers and staff.” said Mike McDonald, Director of Education. “As directed by the Ministry of Education, the Board will also offer an Elementary and a Secondary Virtual School for the 2021-22 school year for families who wish to choose remote learning for their child(ren).”

The Board is providing Virtual School information, and links to register, to all families. It is important to note that the registration window runs from May 26 to June 4 for Virtual Elementary School and May 28 to June 6 for Virtual Secondary School.

“As always, we will continue to share information with families over the coming weeks and months,” said Chair of the Board, Rick Petrella. “Although we are unsure if we are returning before the end of June, we want families to know that we continue to do everything that we can to support their children. We remain optimistic about the 2021/2022 school year with the announcement that the Ministry of Health is moving to support the full vaccination of individuals 12 years of age and older in Ontario, as well as offering second doses of the vaccine to all education staff and students by the end of August.”
