Our Faith

Introduction

What is Chaplaincy?

My name is Andrew Hall and I am proud to be the Chaplaincy Leader at SJC. My goal is to help you grow in your faith. I believe that faith shouldn’t be boring and that it can be fun. We have many things at SJC that allow you to experience our faith in fun and interesting ways such as our Campus Ministry group, Worship Band, Retreats, and faith-based trips such as the Angel Campaign Shopping trip, in which we shop for families at SJC in need at Christmas, St. Vincent de Paul, and workshops with L’Ache.  It’s my sincere hope that you take full advantage of the opportunities to grow in your faith here at SJC.

Parish Connection

We have an awesome relationship with St. Pius X. Prior to COVID-19, we enjoyed classroom visits from our parish priest, as well as celebrating Masses at Thanksgiving, Advent, and Easter. We look forward to when we can gather as a school community to celebrate Mass together again here at SJC. Our school also helps St. Pius X whenever we can when volunteers are needed with things such as Kookies for Kenya. .

Campus Ministry

What is Campus Ministry? Campus Ministry is a group of students that meets every Wednesday at 8:00 AM in the divine mercy room. This is a great way to make friends as you enter grade 9. During our meetings we play games, talk about our faith, and come up with ways to live out our faith and be witnesses in our school and community. What’s awesome about campus ministry is that you don’t need to try out, you don’t have to sign up, and you show up whenever you can. If you are unable to attend the meetings, you simply check in with Chap Andy to keep up to date on things going on in Campus Ministry.

Worship Band

We have a junior and senior worship band at SJC, so if you are a drummer, singer, guitar player, bass player, or keyboard player and want to be involved, please come Chaplain Andrew. We play our school Masses and liturgies of the Word, we provide music ministry at our local parishes, and go to a professional recording studio to record worship songs that we have written.

Retreats

For our grade 9 retreats, we go to apps ridge. During our time together, we play games and do interactive activities that relate to our faith.  It also gives you an opportunity to learn more about chaplaincy, campus ministry, and to experience our faith in a fun way.

Prayer

There are many opportunities to experience prayer at SJC. These ways include morning prayer, grace before meals, participating in our Masses and Liturgies of the Word, our Divine Mercy Prayer Group, etc.
