Modern Languages

Introduction

The Modern Languages Department at St. John's College offers courses in both French and Italian. Students are able to study French from grades 9-12 and Italian from grades 10-12. Students interested in studying Italian do not need to be of Italian heritage in order to meet with success.

The grade 10 course is an introductory course. Students studying French and/or Italian will have many opportunities to be exposed to both the French and Italian languages and cultures. Students have traveled to France and Italy and Québec, visited museum exhibits, seen plays in Stratford, visited the Padre Pio church in Kleinberg, participated in 'Famiglia Day' and Le Club Français activities, taken the DELF Proficiency Exam, and sampled a wide variety of both French and Italian cuisine.
