Ford Government Built New Child Care Spaces in Brantford

Province Approved Child Care Addition to Our Lady of Providence Catholic School Opening December 13, 2021.

BRANTFORD – Today, Stephen Lecce, Minister of Education, joined Will Bouma, MPP for Brantford-Brant, the Most Reverend Wayne Lobsinger, Auxiliary Bishop of the Hamilton Diocese, staff, and representatives from YMCA and the City of Brantford to celebrate the blessing of the new child care addition to Our Lady of Providence Catholic Elementary School. The addition includes 49 new licensed child care spaces, 3 new child care rooms, and will open to families on December 13, 2021.

The province provided Brant Haldimand Norfolk Catholic District School Board $1.7 million to add a new, quality learning environment for the children of Brantford. This project was part of the province’s capital investment program to build more child care spaces for Ontario’s families.

“Our government is delivering affordable and accessible child care that meets the needs of working families both here in Brantford and across Ontario,” said Stephen Lecce, Minister of Education. “We are increasing accessibility by building a new child care addition to Our Lady of Providence Catholic Elementary School and supporting affordability through the Ontario Child Care Tax Credit, helping families get the care their children deserve.”

“This investment will provide choice, stability and flexibility for families as well as new opportunities for the children of Brantford” said Brantford-Brant MPP Will Bouma. “Before, after and full-day child care is a vital component to many families’ work-home balance and I am happy to have advocated along with the Brant Haldimand Norfolk Catholic District School Board for this funding”.

Rick Petrella, Chair of the Board shared, “The additional space will provide our growing Catholic community the opportunity for more children to transition seamlessly from early years to kindergarten. It will help foster engagement and belonging in our students and families, and we are excited to work with our municipal and provincial stakeholders on this project that serves the needs of our community”.

Our Lady of Providence CS is located at 55 Kent Road, Brantford.
